Urinary Tract Infections (UTI)
Drink Water
First, you must drink enough water each day. The most common recommendation is 8 to 12 glasses per day, but you may need more if you’re fighting off a UTI, the weather is hot or you’ve been exercising. Try to drink plain water, not coffee, tea or soda. These other drinks aren’t the tools your body needs to flush out UTI-causing bacteria- water is.

Drink Unsweetened Cranberry Juice
The one possible exception to the water-only rule is cranberry juice. Studies have shown that the proanthocyanidins in cranberry juice make it difficult for bacteria to adhere to the lining of your urinary tract. The only problem is that it takes a substantial amount of these cranberry extracts to have a big effect. It would be difficult to drink enough cranberry juice to have an optimum effect.
If you truly love unsweetened cranberry juice, go ahead and drink it if you are trying to get rid of a UTI. For the rest of us, taking a cranberry supplement, such as Nature’s Bounty Cranberry with Vitamin C, is a better option. This ensures your body gets the dose of cranberry necessary to discourage bacteria from attaching to your urinary tract lining.

Take Vitamin C
Taking Vitamin C is also helpful for getting rid of a urinary tract infection. It boosts your immune system and it makes your urine more acidic, which inhibits the proliferation of bacteria. If you need supplements to boost your Vitamin C intake, try Kirkland Signature Vitamin C with Rose Hips and Citrus Bioflavonoid Complex.
