Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) - How to Get Rid of Them

Probiotics
Probiotics aren't just for intestinal health. The fact is, we are covered in bacteria inside and out, much of which is friendly bacteria. Probiotics replenish good bacteria, which are an important part of your body's immune defenses. Taking probiotics when you already have a UTI may not be effective in helping clear up the infection, as it takes at least a few days before their effects might possibly be
felt. Instead, taking probiotics is an excellent way to prevent urinary tract infections and improve your body's ability to heal.
Look for quality brand probiotics with CFUs (colony forming units) of 1 billion or more. Some good options include:
Blueberries
One study found that blueberry juice had the same effect as cranberry juice on preventing bacteria from UTIs from adhering to your urinary tract lining. Since they are delicious, use this as an excuse to snack on some fresh blueberries. It's best if you can find organic, ripe blueberries grown locally. The less time since the berries were picked, the better.
