To have your Schengen Visa extended, you have to prove that a major issue or humanitarian issue is keeping you from leaving the Schengen Area before your Visa expires.  The extension does not cost any money.

You can also have your Schengen Visa extended if you prove that there are serious personal reasons why you should be given an extension.  For this sort of extension, you must pay 30 euros.

If your Visa is extended, you will receive a sticker in your passport to show that you were given an extension.

To obtain an extension, you have to apply with the government of the Schengen country you are in when you decide to apply for an extension.
