Binge Eating Support
About BingeEatingSupport.com
Hi,
My name is Bianca and I have struggled with binge eating disorder and compulsive overeating as long as I can remember. I created BingeEatingSupport.com to share the information I have learned on the road to recovery in the hopes that it could help someone else.
Please note: I am not a doctor, therapist, dietician or any other sort of eating disorder expert or medical professional. Please always keep in mind that only such a professional is qualified to diagnose and treat disordered eating behavior. This site is for informational purposes only and none of the information you find here should be used to diagnose or treat any condition.
I’ve tried my best to post all the information I can find on binge eating disorder, compulsive eating and conditions related to it, such as depression and obesity. Everyone is different, so each person will need different tools to recover from BED.
I don’t know all the answers when it comes to binge eating disorder or compulsive overeating. I am just like you, recovering from these unhealthy behaviors and trying to improve my physical and mental health.
Binge eating, eating disorders and obsession with weight run rampant in our society. Our culture overemphasizes the importance of looks and the end result is that a large percentage of us have unhealthy attitudes about dieting and weight. When people comment that they’d like to get cancer so that they can lose weight, something is very wrong.
Berating ourselves, allowing others to dictate how we should look and constantly sinking into self-loathing and confusion will not help us to become healthy- mentally or physically. Few of the thoughts or behaviors our culture encourages are healthy. Instead, they result in maladaptive eating behavior. It’s time that we lay those “solutions” to rest and seek out the real answers- the ones that are so tough to face that most of us have spent years avoiding them with food.
My goal is for this site to serve as a resource of information for recovery from binge eating disorder and compulsive eating. Here you will find information to help you understand these conditions.
What you won’t find here is some magical new diet, the one that will finally make you skinny, make people love you, even make YOU love you. That might be what you want. It feels good leaving your pain behind to focus on that one fine day when you will be thin and all your problems will be gone. The reason you won’t find that diet here (or anywhere else) is that it doesn’t exist. There is no diet that is going to make you want to stop binging more than you already do. There is no day when all your problems will be gone just because you lost enough weight. Escaping into that dream might feel good, but it keeps you from dealing with the real problems and ensures that you will remain trapped in your eating disorder. Since this site is all about facing the real emotional and biological causes of compulsive eating, food addiction and binge eating disorder, I do not talk much about diets.
I invite you to browse around on BingeEatingSupport.com and I hope you will find information here that is useful to you.
