Risk Factors Associated with Binge Eating Disorder
Anyone can develop binge eating disorder, but certain circumstances increase the odds of having BED. The following are some of them:

Being Female

Depression

Experiencing abuse, neglect or severe trauma as a child

Exposure to negative remarks about weight or shape

History of dieting, especially “yo-yo” dieting

History of substance abuse or other addictions/compulsions (i.e. excessive gambling or shopping, alcohol or drug abuse)

Difficulty coping with stress without eating

Family history of any eating disorder

Personal history of other eating disorders, such as anorexia or bulimia
